Eye Disease Management

Millions of patients are diagnosed with diseases and conditions of the eye every year. Some of which may not display symptoms until there is irreversible damage to the patient’s vision. The outcome of eye disease can range from temporary discomfort to total loss of vision, which is why all eye problems and diseases should be taken seriously and regular eye check-ups are absolutely essential.

Cataracts

Cataracts are the most common cause of vision loss in people over 40. Cloudiness of the natural crystalline lens inside our eyes worsen over time due to exposure to UV light from the sun. To protect your eyes from early cataracts, we advise everybody to start wearing sunglasses at a very young age. Other causes include some medications and systemic medical conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an eye disease that damages the optic nerve progressively if untreated. This disease will slowly cause loss of your peripheral vision and eventually possible blindness over time. Risk factors include family history of glaucoma, age, elevated eye pressures and a history of diabetes. There are no symptoms of glaucoma in the early stages.

Red Eye Evaluations

Conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, can be caused by a bacterial infection, viral infection or an allergic condition. Symptoms of conjunctivitis include eye redness, eye irritation, crusting of eyelids, goopy or colored discharge, or uncontrollable watery eyes.

Macular Degeneration

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) is caused by the deterioration of the central portion of the retina called the macula. People with ARMD can lose their central vision. We use our central vision the majority of the time and in severe ARMD, it will be like having a black spot in the middle of your vision at all times.
